Family Support Worker

Key Responsibilities:

§  Maintain a trusting, supportive relationship with families by providing information and support through regular home visits, meetings, phone calls, case conferences, etc.

§  Support families in the Medicine Hat and rural areas including Cypress County and Oyen and area.

§ Utilize a family-centered approach to assist families in developing personal and family goals.

§ At the request of an individual, advocate with them or on their behalf.

§ Assist individuals in accessing community resources.

§ Work collaboratively with Service providers.

§ Maintain program participant files.

§ Participate in association and program promotion activities.

§ Enter statistical data into a computer data base.

 

Qualifications:

§ Certificate, Diploma or Degree or related experience (3 years) in a Human Service Field.

§ Strong interpersonal communication, organization and administrative skills.

§ Experience in strength-based, family-centered family support practice.

§ Knowledgeable of community resources and services preferred.

§ An understanding of the diversity, customs and traditions of Indigenous people and diverse

   multicultural experience is an asset.

§ Experience working with computers, email and internet.

 

Must have daily access to a reliable, insured vehicle with current registration, insurance and have a valid drivers license.  This position will be 40 hours per week. The workweek is flexible, with day, evening and weekends. The starting date will bein May 2025. The wage for this position is $23.18-23.95 per hour, depending on education and experience.
